Most Serious Car Wrecks

| Jun 6, 2013 | Auto Accidents

Some car accidents are caused by road defects, rain, fog and snow, while others are the result of negligence. Many variables ultimately determine the severity of a crash, including the speed of the vehicles about to collide, the direction the vehicles are traveling prior to making contact and whether vehicle occupants are wearing seatbelts. While most of the time rear-end collisions are minor accidents, serious injuries can happen in any kind of auto wreck.

Following is a list of some of the most serious types of car crashes:

  • Head-on collision: Undoubtedly, head-on collisions are the most serious type of car accident. Even if one or both drivers are moving at a relatively normal or slow speed, if they collide, they could suffer from devastating neck, head and spinal injuries. If one or both drivers are speeding, the consequences could be fatal.
  • T-bone crash: Also known as broad side accidents and right angle collisions, T-bone crashes occur when the front of one car smashes into the side of another. Drivers who run red lights and stop signs frequently cause these types of wrecks. When a T-bone accident happens on the driver side of a vehicle, there is an increased chance that the driver may sustain life-threatening injuries or be killed. If you or a loved one is injured in a T-bone accident, seek experienced legal help immediately.
  • Sideswipe accident: Many people fail to understand how a minor sideswipe accident can be deadly. Ultimately, it depends on where the accident happens. If it occurs on a local road with a low speed limit and little traffic, a side wipe collision may result only in property damage. However, if it occurs on a highway, it can lead to head on collisions and multiple vehicle wrecks.
