NRS Injury Law has spent decades working with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), the largest federation of labor unions in the United States.
As the AFL-CIO workers’ comp school is about to begin, NRS workers’ comp attorneys in Ohio are preparing several keynote presentations. The goal? To help educate, inform, and train a new generation of workers who know their rights and will stand up for their rights during a workplace injury.
What is the Purpose of a Labor Union?
One of the critical mandates of a labor union is to protect workers, which is also the guiding principle of NRS Injury Law. The AFL-CIO lists its purpose as follows:[1]
“The AFL-CIO works to achieve one goal: A better life for working people. We empower people to negotiate together in their workplaces and advocate for better policies on the local, state and national levels. When working people team up to hold their elected leaders accountable, we can achieve economic stability, wages to sustain our families on and a bright future for everyone.”
Labor unions hold as their critical mandate the protection of their workers, which is where NRS Injury Law comes in. NRS specializes in worker’s comp law and is Ohio’s largest workers’ compensation law firm. This has allowed NRS to dedicate millions of hours, thousands of workdays, and hundreds of years of combined attorney experience, specifically in workers’ compensation cases in Ohio. From the courtroom to the AFL-CIO workers’ comp school, NRS is on-site and ready to help represent workers and create safe workplaces.
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, per capita union membership in Ohio has grown since 2018, outpacing per capita union membership in the United States. As of 2022, almost 14% of Ohio workers are union members, compared to the national rate of 10%. When Ohio union workers are injured, NRS is there to help.[2]
